Bad Basement Carpet, Nothing Bothers Me More!

fun basement flooring
a colorful basement rug can add playfulness, draw attention or simply, brighten a dark space

One of my biggest pet peeves is cheap wall-to-wall carpet in finished basements. I remember when my wife and I were looking for a new home and almost every finished basement we went into—regardless of the price—had cheap wall-to-wall carpet. For me this was an immediate turnoff. It made me wonder where else the seller cut corners. When you see a finished basement carpeted with a tasteful, quality carpet, it changes the entire feel of the house. Just last week, we were touring a neighbor’s rental that he was going to put on the market. While in the basement, Barbara (my wife) said, “If you need new carpet, you know where to go.” His response was, “This is new carpet.” Needless to say, we were a bit shocked.

If you don’t want this to happen to you, take a look at the images in this blog. These are a couple of fun ideas of what can be done with basement flooring. Or as always, feel free to contact us to talk through some of your ideas and/ or questions. We are here to help you.

What do you recommend for basements? We would like our basement to be as nice as the upper floors, but it is a basement and subject to water issues.
