Perhaps, you are designing your new rug and quite curious of which binding edge you should have around your custom rug. We offer many solutions and it all depends on what look you are trying to achieve.
The most important thing to note is that no matter which binding you choose, it won’t add any width to your rug. It will, however, show more binding material on the face of your custom rug.
A natural serged edge is the most custom binding for your custom rug. It is a continuous wrap of yarn that wraps around the edge of your rug. The threads of your weave for your rug are studied and chosen to exactly match. The finished width is about 3/8″ and looks very organic and minimalist.
A lapped binding is a standard finish where the border is overlapped at the corners for a traditional look. We offer many material options from natural cotton and linen to synthetic microfiber and polyester to faux and real leather. Many widths are available to create a subtle or dramatic finish to your custom rug.
A mitered binding is definitely the most elegant finish to your custom rug. Think of putting a picture frame around your rug. The corners of the fabric are folded and sewn in a way that are joined in a 45 degree angle. We also offer many of the same lapped fabrics and range of widths to customize your rug.
Please feel free to email us or call us with any questions as we have over 25 years of experience in high end and high quality custom flooring.
